LOOKING AHEAD

DEAR READERS:  

There will be a total solar eclipse, visible only through northern Canada, the northern part of Russia, western Mongolia, and China on August 1^st in the Sign of Leo, followed by a partial lunar eclipse on August 16^th in the sign of Aquarius. The impact on us of the eclipse begins ten days before and continues for three days after them. This eclipse period will extend from July 21^st through August 19th.   

There are some general effects on all people though the specific impact varies depending on the Sign it’s in and your personal chart. Primary impact: people feel obsessive - compulsive. Whatever you want, you want now. Forget about delayed gratification! In relationships, an eclipse may help to clear the air as subjects come to the surface. But that same energy can lead to words spoken rashly with malice of forethought and then relationships may well be destroyed. When a disagreement flares up, back off. A good adage to bear in mind during an eclipse is that the only argument you really ever win is the one you avoid. Be careful also how you handle stress on the job and choose your words with care in response to your boss and co-workers.  

Another way of describing the feeling of an eclipse is that it is rather like a long lasting full-moon influence. There's a stepped up feeling of urgency. For advertising, this is great, as people are prepared to sign up, buy, commit themselves, and often for more money than they had planned to spend.  It's not a good time to make big ticket purchases for the same reason - you'll be apt to overspend.  So sell, but don’t buy unless you are staying absolutely within your budget. 

DEAR MYRNA:  

I met a man last month who I think has everything I’ve ever hoped for in a relationship. He’s smart and accomplished, sophisticated and charming. I’m a Scorpio, mid 40’s. He’s a Virgo, ten years older. He calls daily and we see each other a couple of times a week. About the only thing that makes me feel unsure is that he’s never been married. He was engaged for several years but never felt sure enough to marry that woman. I know they still have some kind of relationship though he says it’s no longer romantic. Is he perfect for me? JM

Scorpio and Virgo are very well suited and on top of that, your Moon and his are in good aspect to each other. But he is a complex man and with his Moon in Pisces, he is not easy to read. In short, it’s way too soon for you to know whether this man is the right one. In spite of all his wonderful attributes, he has another side. He may operate from the best side of his nature, but he is capable of being highly manipulative, and the fact that he held onto a long term engagement without marrying makes me wonder about his willingness to commit to any woman. Take your time.

My mother is a Leo, 71. Her second husband died two years ago and since then she has been joining dating clubs, putting her profile on Internet sites and going to singles dances. She is in great shape, works out and had a little plastic surgery so you’d never guess her age but I am worried about her. What’s going on and is she safe? MAY  

DEAR MAY:  

Your mother was born with her Moon and her rising Sign in Aries. She sees herself as young and vital. As long as she is not giving away too many details about herself on The Internet or in various chat rooms, she should be okay.  

There are specific aspects that indicate potential vulnerability to violence. They are actions between Saturn and Uranus or Mars and Uranus. Your mother doesn’t have any such threatening indications. So, she may be acting somewhat foolishly and I hope that she doesn’t get taken in by a con man, but otherwise she looks safe and as an adult, she has the right to make whatever decisions she wants to for herself.
